The Science of Respiration
Dismantling breathwork myths using biochemistry and biomechanics.
Biochemistry
The chemical interplay of O2, CO2, and pH.
Biomechanics
The muscular and structural mechanics of ventilation.
- Spirometry & Vital Capacity
- The Diaphragm & Vagus Nerve interface.
- Lateral Costal Expansion vs. Apical Breathing.
Key Metric: Minute Volume
Resting minute volume is the single most important diagnostic metric. It is Respiratory Rate x Tidal Volume. Normal is 5-8 L/min. Chronic hyperventilators often pull 12-15 L/min at rest. Calculate yours here.
